Paper “Estimating and valuing the carbon release in scenarios of land-use and climate changes in a Brazilian coastal area”
Members of the network published the paper “Estimating and valuing the carbon release in scenarios of land-use and climate changes in a Brazilian coastal area” in the Journal of Environmental Management. The research shows that the carbon losses can be greater in scenarios of new ventures , such as infrastructure logistics, oil-gas exploration and pressure in natural environments. With the global warming, the monetary losses could amount to US$ 90 million in 20 years. Besides carbon release, results also highlight the large amount of carbon still stored in protected areas that are threatened by regional economics and special attention from the public sector, management bodies and regulators.
