The ReNature 5th Training Course ‘Nature-based solutions and the science-policy interface’ will bring together experts who through research or practice are working across the science-policy interface to mainstream and implement nature-based solutions (NBS). During the training course particpants will explore the current policy context promoting NBS interventions, discuss NBS design, implementation and effectiveness in providing co-benefits, and evaluate methods for effective communication and collaboration across the science-policy interface. The ReNature 5th Training Course will share positive experiences, from Europe and beyond, of effective collaboration at the science-policy interface. Using a combination of Q-methodology and survey-based approach for assessing forest ecosystem services of Five Finger Mountains in Northern Cyprus
This paper attempts to identify and assess the distinct stakeholders’ perspectives regarding Five Finger Mountain Forest Ecosystem Services (MFESs) at the landscape scale in Kyrenia Region of the Northern Cyprus. The objectives of the study were (1) to identify and assess the stakeholders’ perspectives of MFESs and (2) to record the non-wood forest products harvested and associated traditional ecological knowledge. The Q-methodology and focus group discussions were used to collect the qualitative and quantitative data on the objectives of the research. Highlights and policy implications of new economic report: “Protecting 30% of the planet for nature: costs, benefits and economic implications”
Released on July 8, the independent report “Protecting 30% of the planet for nature: costs, benefits and economic implications” represents the most comprehensive global assessment of the financial and economic impacts of protected areas ever completed. Based on work from over 100 experts, the report found that protecting 30% of the world’s land and ocean provides greater benefits than the status quo, both in terms of financial outcomes and non-monetary measures like ecosystem services. These benefits outweigh the costs by a factor of at least 5:1.

NESP Webinar Recording: New Ecosystem Services Toolkit Tour
The National Ecosystem Services Partnership (NESP) was formed over a decade ago to create a national network for sharing ecosystem services information, to establish pathways for implementation of ecosystem services concepts, and to help integrate ecosystem services information into decision-making. In service of these goals, NESP is creating a set of resources for the natural resource management community that provides an ecosystem services framework that is flexible while being standardized, intuitive, and credible. These resources are centered on a set of Ecosystem Services Conceptual Models (ESCMs). [Read more…] about NESP Webinar Recording: New Ecosystem Services Toolkit Tour
