ESP Asia RO organises Training on Integrated Ecosystem Services Assessment
The ESP Asia Regional Office is preparing a training on Integrated Ecosystem Services Assessment to value and capture the benefits of landscape restoration, nature conservation and sustainable land management.
Moderated by ESP chair Rudolf de Groot and ESP Asia executive committee member Namue Lee, the training will take place on 15-17 May 2023 in Taipei, Taiwan, and will be hosted by Dr. Herlin Chien the National Pingtung University of Science and Technology/ LTSER Pinglin, Taiwan.

Lebanon National Network participates in the Middle East Landscape Forum 2022
Designing Transformative Change for Productive Landscapes (19-20 October 2022)
ESP LNN organized a session in the forum entitled “Validating Ecosystem Services” and chaired by Salma Talhouk. The talks included “Ecosystem services and their contribution to the sustainable development goals: A case study from Lebanon” by Michele Citton, “Exploring the potentials of birdwatching as a cultural ecosystem service in Lebanon” by Alexandra Schiller, “TheOtherForest: A tool for ecological and social regeneration providing much-needed ecosystem services in cities” by Adib Dada, and “A productive urban landscape: a method to improve cultural ecosystem services” by Zahra Sadeghi.

National Platform for Ecosystem Services officially launched in the Czech Republic
Following the long-term effort and preparations, the National Platform for Ecosystem Services (NPES) was established in the Czech Republic. NPES evolved within the Integrated Project LIFE, LIFE-IP: N2K Revisited – Integrated LIFE project for the Natura 2000 network in the Czech Republic, called One Nature. NPES was established as a scientific-political body with a vision to support and coordinate the creation of policies and strategies focused on ecosystem services in the field of nature conservation and biodiversity, as well as other departmental policies. The goal of NPES is to support the exchange of information and the sharing of experiences in the area of assessment and use of ecosystem services in decision-making. The activity of the platform will also facilitate international cooperation and support the development of a national network of institutions cooperating in the field of ecosystem services and further developing individual key themes.
