Caught Between Personal and Collective Values: Biodiversity conservation in European decision‐making
Individual decision‐makers at different governance levels operate in social contexts, which means that they sometimes need to compromise their personal values. This dissonance is rarely the direct target of empirical analyses of environmental decision‐making. New Paper Series from the National Ecosystem Services Partnership
The National Ecosystem Services Partnership (US) has published the Ecosystem Services Conceptual Model Series. The Series provides a collection of resources explaining why ecosystem services conceptual models (ESCMs) are useful for decision making, providing guidance for building ESCMs, and describing NESP’s initial efforts to standardize and apply these models with federal agency partners. Updates from Biome Working Group 1 – Marine Systems
The Marine ESP WG would like to share with you that as part of the session that will be hosted at the ESP Europe 2018 Regional Conference, we will have 11 presentations related to mapping and modelling of marine ES. The session B1a – Marine and coastal ecosystem service mapping and modelling: moving beyond land-based adaptations will take place on Thursday the 18th of October in the morning and will be followed by an interactive discussion on the same topic.
We would also like to highlight a public-private partnership signed in Dominican Republic for the co-management of one of the largest MPAs in the Caribbean. More information can be found on the following press release.
