We are delighted to welcome our new steering committee of ESP-Asia 2019-2020. ESP Asia SC has a total of 9 seats including hosting countries of ESP Asia Conferences(4), recommended ESP members(3), ESP headquarter(1), and ESP Asia Regional Office(1).
ESP Asia SC plays a role in the scientific program committee leading the organization of biannual ESP Asia Conferences and other ESP-Asia events including ESP Asia Intergovernmental Meeting, ESP Asia Forum and other collaborative thematic sessions during ESP Conferences in future.

Ecosystem services of crop wild relatives and landraces
Understanding the value of the provisioning services provided by plant genetic resources (PGR) is essential to inform the development of policy to support conservation actions. As part of the EC-funded project, Farmer’s Pride (www.farmerspride.org), which aims to establish a network of stakeholders and sites for in situ conservation and sustainable use of PGR in Europe, partners in the project are working to identify cost-effective strategies and policies to improve the PGR conservation and use system in the region and establishing a dialogue to communicate recommendations to policy-makers.

A two-day conference was held in Nicosia on 4 & 5 December with the title “Mapping & Evaluation of Ecosystem Services in Cyprus”. The conference was co-organized by the Department of the Environment and the Department of Forests with the project iLIFE-TROODOS, under the aegis of the Honorable Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment, Kostas Kadis.
