Following the outcomes from IPBES-6 in Medellin, Colombia. IPBES is herewith issuing two open calls: 1) For nomination of the experts; and 2) For expressions of interest to provide technical support units (TSUs).
1. Nomination of experts
IPBES is particularly looking for experts with a scientific and/or practical background in: ecological and environmental economics, environmental and sustainability sciences, environmental ethics and philosophy, environmental sociology and anthropology, environmental psychology and behavioral science, environmental history, science and technology studies, political ecology, human geography, human ecology, cultural ecology, environmental policy and law, political sciences and trade, and from other fields related to integrative approaches to human-nature relations and linking knowledge to policy and practice.
All governments and relevant organizations or institutions are encouraged to submit nominations.
Interested experts (Nominees) are encouraged to contact their IPBES National Focal Point (https://www.ipbes.net/national-focal-points) regarding any country-specific processes or deadlines and are requested to fill out their application form by no later than 1 June 2018.
2. Offers to host technical support units
Following decision IPBES-6/1 (section IX), the secretariat is issuing an open call for expressions of interest to provide technical support units (TSUs) for:
a. the methodological assessment on values;
b. the thematic assessment of the sustainable use of wild species; or
c. the thematic assessment of invasive alien species.
Governments or organizations interested in providing one of these technical support units are invited to send their offer, using the template provided here, to the Secretariat at [email protected] by 16 May 2018.
