International Water and Climate “Balkhash – 2024” is aimed at uniting efforts of civil society, scientists, cultural figures, governmental organisations, business representatives and international community for joint actions on preservation of Lake Balkhash and sustainable development of the Balkhash-Alakol transboundary basin under conditions of water, climate, environmental, socio-economic challenges.
Balkhash – 2024 invites the following participants to the Forum:
- Representatives of central and local government agencies.
- Representatives of industrial enterprises, agriculture and business.
- Representatives of local communities, public organisations and media.
- Artists, academic experts, cultural figures.
- Representatives of diplomatic missions and international organisations.
The program focuses on the present status, current and future strategies of major water users, as well as the interdisciplinary interrelationships of the region’s ecology, economy, history, and culture to discuss joint actions to mitigate the effects of increasing water scarcity, climate change, to develop a green economy, and enhance the region’s investment and tourism potential.
