EcosystemEvaluation carries out economic impact assessment as well as ecosystem serrvices analysis of theLIFE LOGOS 4 WATER project. This project aims to improve water management practices of Hungarian local governments with natural water retention solutions, thus reducing the negative water balance, increasing the prevalence of water retention solutions and adapting to the adverse effects of a climate crisis. In addition to a number of awareness-raising and capacity-building activities, the project aims to demonstrate the effectiveness of natural water retention solutions in two river basin districts through the coordinated work of the municipalities in the concerned areas. The two river basin districts have different geographical conditions (one is hilly, the other one is found on the Great Plain) and thus face other problems affecting water management.
EcosystemEvaluation aims to assess the impacts of project activities both on local economies and ecosystem services in the two river basin districts. In order to reveal the economic impacts of the project, we aim to analyze changes in project-induced health care cost, carry out monetary assessment of changes in CO₂ emissions, assess changes in the economic situation of those directly involved in the project, analyze the damage caused by floods / water scarcity and reveal other economic effects of the project. In order to reveal project impacts on ecosystem services, we aim to assess habitats, genetic diversity and biodiversity as well as analyze hydrological cycle and water flow regulation capacity of the concerned river basin districts and their project-induced changes on the two river basin districts.
