The Department of Ecology at the Universität Innsbruck is looking to fill a PhD position in the field of “Ecosystem services in the Alpine region in the context of global change” for 3 years from 1 November 2024. We are looking for candidates with a completed master, magister or diploma degree in a relevant field and profound knowledge of the effects of land use and climate change in mountain ecosystems as well as the assessment and modeling of ecosystem services. PhD Position – Ecosystem Services and Climate Change in Mountainous Viticulture
The interdisciplinary research group of the Professorship of Ecological Services (PES), University of Bayreuth, is looking for a dedicated individual to join its team for the European funded project “RESPOnD – Climate resilient Alpine Wine Orchards” (Interreg Alpine Space Programme).
The selected candidate will focus on developing knowledge on key benefits and climate vulnerabilities of alpine wine orchards by working with various stakeholders in the wine sector. Responsibilities include modeling ecosystem services and climate change impact indicators, establishing the knowledge foundation for adaptive change pathways and resilience strategies in alpine viticulture. The role requires organizing workshops with stakeholders (e.g., wine growers and consortia) and traveling for project meetings in the countries of the Alpine Space.

PhD position at ZALF: policy instrument design for climate change mitigation in agriculture
The Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF) are currently looking for a PhD researcher to join the team, focusing on completing a dissertation within the research project ‘WetNetBB’. The specific emphasis of the dissertation is on designing and evaluating policy interventions to facilitate the rewetting of peatlands. The research will utilize behavioral economic theory and quantitative methods to gain insights into farmers’ behavior concerning paludiculture adoption and to evaluate tailored policy interventions aimed at supporting peatland rewetting. Urban Forest Ecosystem Services Postdoctoral Fellowship
Research Project: The US Forest Service (USFS) Pacific Southwest Research Station in Riverside California, USA is seeking a Post Doc Research Fellow to explore how urban forests and their ecosystem services and disservices affect human wellbeing, particularly in disadvantaged communities. To do this, the research fellow will use quantitative geospatial, statistical, or econometric techniques to analyze diverse environmental, economic, and socio-ecological data sets. This Fellow will be part of a transdisciplinary team of USFS researchers, environmental-based organizations, and local universities and governments from the Greater Los Angeles, CA area.
