A Special Issue of Ecosystem Services (Elsevier) by 2020 ESP Asia Conference

ESP Asia Office starts preparing the special issue of Ecosystem Services to compile research outcomes of ES professionals in Asia.

This idea was brought up last year during 2018 ESP Asia Conference in India and our Asian partners stressed the importance of compiling research outcomes and ES policy practices in Asian countries. This initiative will also contribute to engaging interdisciplinary researchers into adopting ecosystem services approach and supporting collaboration of ES researchers in  Asia.

Common Challenges of Desertification in Northeast Asia

Gyeonggi-Liaoning Afforestation Project in Northern China supported by ESP Asia and ESP China 

Gyeonggi provincial government(ROK) and Liaoning government(China) have collaborated to combat desertification in northeast China by creating artificial forests in Jianping county since 2017.  Jianping county is located at the border of inner-Mongolia, extremely influenced by desertification and belongs to the belt of “Great Green Wall” , the biggest greening project to push back deserts in the world. Welcome to new steering committee members of ESP-Asia RO

We are delighted to welcome our new steering committee of ESP-Asia 2019-2020. ESP Asia SC has a total of 9 seats including hosting countries of ESP Asia Conferences(4), recommended ESP members(3), ESP headquarter(1), and ESP Asia Regional Office(1). 

ESP Asia SC plays a role in the scientific program committee leading the organization of biannual ESP Asia Conferences and other ESP-Asia events including ESP Asia Intergovernmental Meeting, ESP Asia Forum and other collaborative thematic sessions during ESP Conferences in future.

Looking back at ESP Asia 2018 Conference

2018 ESP Asia Conference has been successfully held at Wildlife Institute of India (WII) in Dehradun, India on 9-12 October. We would like to give thanks to everyone who kept the interest and attended the conference.

The opening comprised of the special ritual that shows the Indian culture. The conference had around 100 participants from 12 countries and 14 thematic sessions took place. For the first time at ESP conference, the ESP Asia Intergovernmental Meeting took place in the 2018 ESP Asia Conference. The delegates from 6 Asian Countries such as ROK, DPRK, Nepal, Vietnam, Philippines, and India came together to share the current trend in ES policy and implementation case study in each country.
