Registration is open for the 4th International ESP Latin America and Caribbean Conference. The conference, organised under the theme “Sharing Knowledge about Ecosystem Services and Natural Capital to Build a Sustainable Future”, will take place from 6th to 10th November 2023 in the vibrant city of La Serena, Chile. The event is organised by the Faculty of Regional Development and International Studies at Mendel University in Brno, la Corporacion Regional de Desarrollo Productivo deCoquimbo (CRDP) and the Ecosystem Services Partnership (ESP).
Request for nominations of experts to review guidance on valuing ecosystem services in federal benefit-cost analyses
The White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is drafting an updated guidance for federal agencies around cost-benefit analysis of environmental and ecosystem services. OMB is looking for peer reviewers of the guidance and is accepting nominations for reviewers until June 15. See more details about the request.
ESP Webinar: Participatory Community Monitoring of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services in Latin America and the Caribbean
The third edition of the ESP Education & Training Webinar Series, organised by the Young Ecosystem Services Specialist Network – YESS, will be on the topic of Participative Community Monitoring of Biodiversity and Ecosystems Services in Latin America and the Caribbean. The session is planned as a space to share significant advances and experiences in participatory science exercises and self-managed monitoring of ecosystem, developed by rural communities, indigenous communities, African descendants, ethnic groups, etc., in which early-career researchers (ECRs) tend to be advisors and accompaniers.

Journal of the Bulgarian Geographical Society has been accepted for Scopus indexing
In its 90 years in scholarly publishing (since 1933), the Journal of the Bulgarian Geographical Society (JBGS), became the oldest geographical journal in Bulgaria with more than 930 articles and 47 volumes. In 2023 JBGS celebrates the long-lasting history of the journal in the Bulgarian academic publication process, as well as its acceptance for Scopus indexing!
Earlier, in the last months of 2022, JBGS has been accepted for inclusion in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and ERIH+ indexing.
The Journal has international representation, as authors from Bulgaria, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Romania, and USA have already published their studies in JBGS. The Journal has already published a special issue “Natural heritage, ecosystem services and tourism” (Ed. Nedkov et al. 2021) about ecosystem services and their implementation with natural heritage. Post doc: Accounting for Forest Ecosystem Services in Ireland
An exciting new multi-disciplinary project (ForES) is seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Researcher. This is a collaborative project with researchers in Trinity College Dublin and practitioners in Coillte. The project will use Natural Capital Accounting approaches to codevelop tools for sustainable forestry management decision making.
