In 2019, the election process for the new ESP Steering Committee took place. The ESP Steering Committee is responsible for advising the Executive Committee, overseeing the operation and governance of the ESP, and making broader decisions regarding the general membership of the ESP. It is elected every four years through an ESP-wide process of nomination and election.
The 2020-2024 Steering Committee has been elected following the new ESP rules on regional and gender balance. Its thirty members represent twelve world regions (including East and Southern Africa, West and Central Africa, Central America and the Caribbean, North America, South America, East Asia, South and South-East Asia, West and Central Asia, South-East Europe, West and Central Europe, the MENA region, and Oceania) with a 60:40 male to female ratio. Also, the Steering Committee is proud to represent a broad range of disciplines from social and natural sciences. Meet the new members on our steering committee page.
The 2020-2024 Steering Committee has already started working on issues important for ESP and its members: internal and external communication, future strategies of ESP, impacts and services for the wider ecosystem-services community, member engagement, international networking, etc. The Steering Committee will regularly communicate about its activities and is open to any suggestions to better serve the community of researchers and practitioners working on the links between ecosystems and society.
