A workshop on “Pro-active management of forests to combat climate change driven risks: Policies and measures for increasing forest resilience and climate change adaptation” was organized by Forest Europe and Turkish General Directorate of Forest in Istanbul (Turkey) on 3-4 September 2019. The main topics were: Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) in terms of climate change, Policies and governance needed to implement adaptation, risk prevention and disturbance management, Countries´ experience in implementation of adaptation measures to prevent and mitigate natural hazards. A field trip to Belgrad Forests was conducted on the second day to see a regeneration site of Maritime Pine as well as a forested land burned due to wildfire. As a result of the workshop, some recommendations for the integration of adaptation measures and disturbance risk prevention into SFM were made.
