Local action for the common good.
The 7th international ESP conference was organised in San José, Costa Rica, from 8-12 September, 2014. This was the first ESP conference organised in Latin America. Besides, it was the first time that Sectoral WG – sessions were organised which focused on application of ES concept in agriculture, conservation, and by indigenous communities. The conference aimed to provide an opportunity for the many Working Groups to meet and discuss progress, make plans and work on joint projects and publications. The conference was organised jointly by ESP (Ecosystem Services Partnership) and local host – Fundación Neotrópica. Barceló San José Palacio Hotel and Conference Centre was selected to be the venue.
The conference consisted of plenary sessions, workshops (organized by ESP working groups), open topic sessions (proposed and organized by all participants) and three special sessions devoted to specific topics by the collaborating organizations and sponsors.
