Ecosystem Services Come of Age: Linking Science, Policy and Participation for Sustainable Human Well-Being
The 5th annual ESP conference was organised in Portland, USA, from 31 July – 3 August, 2012. Portland is one of the most sustainable cities in the US and the world. The conference aim was to give participants ample chances to interact and exchange ideas with practitioners, educators, policy-‐makers, researchers, and others about ecosystem services. The conference was organised by IALE (International Association for Landscape Ecology), ACES (A Community on Ecosystem Services) and ESP (Ecosystem Services Partnership), and Eco Trust building is selected as the venue.
The conference consisted of three sections. The first section was made up of plenary talks, parallel sessions, and a poster session. Short presentations were given in 5 parallel sessions with different themes. Besides, presentations were given by keynote speakers from diverse perspective to address the theme of the conference – Ecosystem Services Come of Age: Linking Science, Policy and Participation for Sustainable Human Well-Being. The second section was working groups where small groups of people worked together interactively on a product and solution. The third section was plenary synthesis panels and sessions to summarize outcomes in plenary.
