To coincide with the ESP9 World Conference, IJBESM’s Editor-in-Chief Rudolf de Groot has chosen a selection of articles that provide an overview of what the journal stands for: publishing research that informs policymakers and practitioners, improving knowledge on important ecosystem services and their relation with biodiversity, exploring the balance between socio-cultural values, traditional ecological knowledge and economic development and alternative approaches to improve biodiversity management.

The International Journal of Biodiversity Science, Ecosystem Services & Management (IJBESM) aims to improve our understanding of the role of biodiversity in providing ecosystem services and the management systems needed to maintain biodiversity and achieve sustainable use of ecosystem services. The Editor-in-Chief (Dolf de Groot), the Managing Editors (Alexander van Oudenhoven, Matthias Schröter) and several Associate Editors and Editorial Board Members are active ESP members. IJBESM is fully open access.
