Once more, the Ecosystem Services Partnership (ESP) network attended the 10th plenary session of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) in Bonn. This meeting held substantial importance in the global environmental community, as it brought together recognized experts, scientists and policymakers to address the pressing issues of biodiversity and ecosystem services, to accept the recently published Alien Invasive Species Assessment and to pave the road forward for the rolling work program within IPBES up to 2030.
The ESP delegation held Observer Status in the negotiations and comprised environmental scientists, researchers, and practitioners. The ESP delegation was accompanied by a youth delegation led by the YESS network, bringing together Early Career Scientists and other youth organizations. Together, they aimed to advocate for the recognition of the invaluable role these ecosystem services play in sustaining life on Earth and to emphasize the need for integrated, science-based policies to safeguard our planet’s ecosystems.
Would you like to join the ESP observer delegation in one of the next IPBES plenaries? All you need to do is have a valid ESP membership and respond to the call.
