A new article on recreational services has been published in Ecosystem Service Journal with the title ‘Spatial dimensions of recreational ecosystem service values: A review of meta-analyses and a combination of meta-analytic value-transfer and GIS’.
The paper investigates spatial determinants of recreational ecosystem service values by combining Geographic Information System (GIS) and meta-analysis, and by presenting the first review on meta-analysis studies in this field. Using meta-analytic value transfer, we map the spatial distribution of recreational values across Europe.
One main conclusion is that accurate visitor statistics for PA are far more relevant for estimating the recreational value of sites than estimating the value per trip. Therefore, the authors encourage the collection and sharing visitor data via their update data submission interface.
The publication is related with the work of SWG 7 of the ESP, “ES in (eco) Tourism”.
